The original rockery stones
All the rocks were kept when the rockery was lifted. Reusing them in the wall preserved the material from the garden feature the customer’s husband had made.
GARDEN PROJECT · CANTERBURY, KENT
We lifted a rockery made by a customer’s late husband, kept all its stones and reused them to build a front garden wall.

THE PROJECT
This Canterbury project began with a rockery that the customer’s late husband had made. When we lifted it, we kept all the rocks and used them to build a new ragstone wall along the front of the property. The garden changed, but those original stones remained part of it.
The wall brought the saved stone together in a new form, with brick pillars and a light-coloured coping along the top. Its irregular stones give the front boundary a texture that reflects the material we had to work with.
Completed around ten years ago, this was our landscaper’s first ragstone wall. It remains a memorable project because the work gave the stones from a personally important garden feature a lasting place at the same property.

The saved ragstone was built into a wall along the front boundary, with brick pillars and coping completing the visible finish.
