Sandstone paving
Rectangular stones of varying sizes and tones create the patio surface beside the house and across the lower level.
COMPLETED PROJECT · ASHFORD, KENT
Sandstone paving across two levels, with softwood timber sleeper retaining walls and a rope-and-post edge.

THE PROJECT
For this Ashford garden we fitted sandstone paving and softwood timber sleeper retaining walls. A raised paved area sits beside the house, and a lower sandstone surface extends below it. The horizontal sleepers make the change in level a visible part of the design.
The paving shows the natural colour variation of sandstone. Timber posts and rope line the raised edge in the photographs, adding a simple visual boundary while leaving the garden open to view.
Rectangular stones of varying sizes and tones create the patio surface beside the house and across the lower level.
Stacked timber sleepers run along the change in level and continue around the side of the patio.
Posts with a rope detail mark the edge of the raised area, as shown in the project photographs.
